How to read these school statistics

  • Star rating is the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce overall report card rating, from 1 to 5 stars in half-star increments. Three stars means the district met state standards.
  • Performance Index is the state's weighted test-score measure. It rolls up every state test in reading, math, science, and social studies and awards more credit for students who score at higher levels. It is scored on a 120-point scale, so a score of 100 means roughly 83% of the maximum.
  • Graduation rate is the four-year cohort rate: the share of students who graduate within four years of starting ninth grade.
  • Regional rank compares performance index scores across every rated district in this tool, not statewide.
  • Ratings and scores are district-wide. An individual elementary, middle, or high school inside a district can perform noticeably above or below the district average — check the building-level report card before you decide.
  • District boundaries do not follow city or township lines. Confirm the exact school district for a specific parcel with the county auditor before you buy or build.
